Foothold supports the physical, mental and financial health and wellbeing of the people who make up the manufacturing and engineering sectors by providing free wellbeing support, resources and advice for engineers, manufacturing professionals and their families.
We help manufacturing and engineering SMEs build happier, healthier and more resilient workforces. For organisations without a dedicated employee assistance programme, our free resources provide practical support that can be shared with employees or contractors.

ONLINE WELLBEING HUB - FREE
Our free Wellbeing Hub provides advice, tools and resources to help people improve their physical, mental and financial wellbeing. SMEs can signpost employees or contractors here, whether to address a specific issue or build personal resilience.
On the hub, there is a series of self-paced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programmes: 5–8 week courses of structured information to help people achieve positive change around topics such as workplace stress, anxiety, low mood, and addiction.
Content is clinically validated and designed by experts. It also features an anonymous Mental Health Check-In tool which allows people to self-assess, and receive personalised advice to improve their health and wellbeing. They can print a summary of results which can be helpful for starting conversations with their GP or employer.
NEURODIVERGENCY SUPPORT
Our Differently Wired Hub is a free online resource with a wealth of free and easy to access and digest information and advice about neurodiversity, such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia.
SMEs can signpost people to the Hub if they are seeking support or would like to explore whether they might be neurodivergent.
The Hub also includes resources for employers who want to better understand neurodiversity and create an environment where everyone can thrive and to do their best work.
For SMEs employing apprentices, our Engineering Neurodiverse Futures programme can offer funded assessments, alongside counselling and career coaching for eligible neurodivergent students and apprentices.
LEGAL AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
We provide free access to a comprehensive collection of legal and financial factsheets. These resources are produced in collaboration with Law Express, which is a leading UK provider of independent legal advice for SMEs and small businesses.
SMEs can make these resources available to their workforce as part of a wellbeing and support offering.
Whether someone is facing legal challenges or financial difficulties, the factsheets provide practical guidance across topics such as divorce, employment disputes, personal injury and inheritance tax.
People can also access support through the Foothold app, which includes legal and financial resources, wellbeing content, webinars and an AI-powered assistant that helps users find information relevant to their situation.
